About me

Hi, I’m Sharon Li. I never thought I’d become a designer.

I studied German linguistics because languages came easily to me. One day, I saw a poster in the subway. I don’t remember what it said, but I remember how it made me feel—understood, like there was a way to communicate without words. That moment led me to leave my stable job and dive into design, even though I had no experience. It wasn’t easy, but it felt right.

I landed my first UI/UX role at HUPU, designing systems and marketing assets for a managing tool app designed for sports clubs. It was meaningful work. But I wanted more—better work-life balance, a slower pace, space to breathe. So I moved to Melbourne, fell in love with its coffee-sunset-beach rhythm, and stayed.

In Melbourne, I’ve been fortunate to work with organisations like Plastic Oceans Australasia and the Australian Film Institute, where I was entrusted with projects beyond what I ever imagined - developing CMS-driven websites, leading annual rebrands for AACTA Awards, designing light projection concepts for Sydney Opera House Sails and HOTA’s exterior, and now the official AACTA website.

Along the way, I discovered a love for the technical side of design — solving black-and-white problems, using AI to brainstorm, learning to code (HTML, CSS, Python, SQL). Now, I’m blending both worlds: visual storytelling with practical solutions.

Beyond pixels, I’m drawn to experiences that opens my mind about the world — hiking, documentaries, rock and indie music, books that let me live a thousand lives, road trips especially the ones that unfold stories of strangers.

I’m open to what’s next, both in design and in life.
